UNESCO’s work on science, technology and innovation (STI) policy includes assistance in policy development and reforms. The organization also functions as a catalyst for regional and international cooperation in the field of science policy.
As economies are transforming into knowledge-based industries, science policies need to respond to these developments. UNESCO plays a role in facilitating this process.
In the Pacific, the UNESCO Apia Office is working with governments and researchers from across the region to advance science policy. Apart from national policy developments, a special focus of our work is regional cooperation.
