“Every Child needs A Teacher”: Celebration of the EFA Global Action Week 2013

To celebrate this year’s Global Action Week for EFA, UNESCO Office in Beirut and the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM) jointly organized the Seminar on “Quality Education for All: Achievements and Challenges” (TUE, 30 April 2013, UNESCO Palace, Beirut). The seminar is conducted under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), H.E. Prof. Hassan Diab.

This year, at the initiative of UNESCO BEI and NATCOM, several  UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet schools) and UNRWA schools from Lebanon were engaged in a video contest. School teams (including teachers and students) produced short videos that focus on the role of educators for enhancing education quality. The videos address a variety of topics, including school initiatives to enhance quality, equity and inclusiveness; collaborative projects linking schools and communities, such as community service projects; activities to enhance teachers’ professional development; and the usage of ICTs, Internet and e-learning. The winning videos will be announced and awarded during the second part of the seminar of 30 April 2013 (see Agenda attached).

UNESCO BEI and NATCOM, in collaboration with Lebanese schools, will build on this initiative through follow up activities that will include sharing and dissemination workshops, as well as the development of a DVD to be used for teacher training purposes.
