World heritage in young hands, UNESCO workshops in Lebanon

UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut and the Lebanese Ministry of Education with the Lebanese National commission for UNESCO, are organizing three workshops for school teachers on using the educational kit “World Heritage in Young Hands”.

The aim is to integrate the values of World Heritage in educational policies and practices especially among youth through a wider diffusion of the kit” World        Heritage in Young Hands”.

The three workshops will take place in the areas affected by the 2006 war in Lebanon and will include the following themes:


  • The World Heritage Convention
  • World Heritage and Tourism
  • World Heritage and the environment
  • World Heritage and a culture of peace 

Over 30 teachers will benefit from each workshop, in which three experts will deliver presentations, lectures, and hands-on training with the training kit. The participants will undertake technical visits to the World Heritage Site of Tyr, in Lebanon. 

Dates and venue:  Marjeyoun- South Lebanon 30-31 Oct.09,                          Saidon- South Lebanon 3-14 Nov.09 , Tyr- South Lebanon 4-5 Dec.09.
