UNESCO Brasilia Office Natural Sciences Sector launched on 18 June 2012 an “Essay and Drawing Contest for Students” to celebrate the United Nations “World Science Day for Peace and Development” on 10 November. Secondary school students from all over Brazil were asked to write essays, oriented by teachers, and draw pictures to answer the question “What is the

best source of energy for our future?”. This book contains the best ten pictures, as well as the best ten essays. The Contest award ceremony was held on November 2012 in São Paulo.
