Abstract: Making pair with the book “Direitos humanos”, by the same author, this work brings 33 documents to explain the history of the development and achievements of human rights in Brazil. This book covers since the spread of social rights during de 30s until the year of 1964. It passes through the struggle of civil and political rights during the military period and comes until the universality of the rights and the conquering of democracy in the country. Besides, it gathers texts of great thinkers and idealists of the national contemporary social and political scenario, such as Caio Prado Júnior, Florestan Fernandes, Leonardo Boff, Betinho, Ulysses Guimarães, and Tancredo Neves.
