This document synthesizes the study promoted by UNESCO Brasilia Office on the situation of Upper Secondary Education in the country. It objective is to subsidize Public Education managers in formulating policies and actions on the provision expansion of this level of Education guaranteeing its educational quality. Is presented in four parts: national legislation and standards for Upper Secondary Education; studies as well as official and unofficial information about Upper Secondary Education; relevant issues and prospects for a quality public Upper Secondary Education and recommendations applicable to national policies and actions; final considerations and recommendations.
