Open registration for the course Youth, Sexuality and STD/AIDS Prevention
Registration is open for the distance education course Youth, Sexuality and STD/AIDS Prevention, a partnership between UNESCO, Serpro and the Ministries of Education and Health. The course is aimed at capacitating education and health professionals working in educational spaces to train youngsters on the themes of sexuality and prevention of STD/AIDS.
The goal of the course is to support the development of competencies by professional working with youth and adolescents. The main focus is the promotion of health and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, in the contexts of sexual and reproductive rights. It is especially aimed at teachers of the final years of primary and middle school as well as health professional working with youth and adolescents, especially in basic care.
The partnership for the development of the course seeks to contribute with fulfilling gaps in the access to information about sexuality among professionals of health and education in Brazil, expanding it to meet the country’s great dimensions and diverse particularities. It is also a contribution towards articulating public education and health policies for the young population in areas of shared responsibilities. It also seeks to address the logic of Human Rights at school as a way of decreasing vulnerability to violence.
The course is made available to all youth and professionals in Brazil until 31 December 2012.
