Professores do Brasil: novos cenários de formação

One of the key elements to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all is to “increase substantially the provision of qualified teachers.” In 2009, the first edition of this study was published. It offered an overview of the status of the basic education teacher training in Brazil with the intention to show the scenario of the career development of teachers, as well as their lifelong learning perspectives. The study also approached issues related to their salary rate. After eight years, when an update of this study started, the authors noticed that its first edition was still an important reference to this field in Brazil, and that the Brazilian teachers’ qualification issues remained the same. For these reasons, the researchers from Carlos Chagas Foundation and UNESCO decided to publish a new updated edition of this study.
