UNESCO celebrates Human Rights Day, 10 December 2010

Asma Jahangir, Pakistani lawyer and human rights defender, is this year’s laureate of the UNESCO/Bilbao Prize for the Promotion of a Culture of Human Rights. The award ceremony is taking place 10 December – Human Rights Day – in Bilbao, Spain.

 

In Brazil, the University of São Paulo (USP) grants the XI Award for Human Rights 2010 to Dorina Nowill Gouvea (in memoriam) and Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind.

 

The ceremony will be attended by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, Dr. Kishore Singh, and the UNESCO Representative in Brazil, Vincent Defourny.

The event will be held on 10 December, at 17 p.m., at the Bandeirantes Palace (Avenida Morumbi, 4500 - São Paulo)
