08.12.10 Brazil launches General History of Africa collection in Portuguese
From now on, Brazil and other Portuguese speaking countries have the opportunity to access UNESCO collection of General History of Africa in their own language. The collection in Portuguese was launched at a ceremony, in Brasilia, with the presence of the ministers of Education and Culture. Download is available.
06.12.10 Higher education in Brazil for the next decade is discussed
“Challenges and Perspectives of Brazilian Higher Education for the Next Decade” is the theme of a seminar to be held in Brasilia, 08-09 December. The event, which will gather some of the principal specialists in Higher Education from Brazil and other countries, will start next Wednesday (8 December), at 7:00 p.m., and the elected president Dilma Roussef is expected.
01.12.10 Rates on new HIV infections fall or stabilize in some countries around the world
World Aids Day, 1 December, brings good news: United Nations’ report informs that the rate of HIV new infections has fallen by more than 25% among young people in 15 of the countries most severely affected by the epidemic. In Brazil, a ceremony highlights the World Day in 2001, which has as theme the prejudice.

UNESCO presents, in Rio de Janeiro, unpublished data from the Report “Situation in Latin America and Caribbean: Guaranteeing the Education of Quality for All” to ministers of Education and representatives from countries attending to the Second Meeting of Regional Education Project for Latin America and the Caribbean (PRELAC).

This month, UNESCO and the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (ALAIC) are holding the seminars “Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in Latin America”. The Brazilian stage will happen this Friday, 26 November, from 10 a.m. to 12p.m. in the Ministry Esplanade (in front of the Cathedral of Brasília) with the presence of César Bolaño, president of ALAIC, Guilherme Canela, coordinator of the Communication and Information sector of UNESCO in Brazil and Fernando Oliveira Paulino from Brasília University.
