11.11.11 Click online and donate to UNESCO
Paris, 10 November – The Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova today launched an online site so ordinary people can donate to UNESCO. The money they give will go into a special Multi-donor Emergency Fund. Member States, Institutions, Corporations and Foundations will also be asked to contribute.

The President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff met with UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova at the Organization’s Headquarters on Saturday 5 November. The President said that she was delighted to meet the first woman to lead UNESCO and promised strong support to the Organization from her country.

The UNESCO Brasilia Office director, Vincent Defourny, presents the Brazil-Africa: Crossed Histories Programme, during the UNESCO General Conference, in Paris, this Saturday, 29 October 2011. The programme was designed to promote Education of ethnic-racial relations in Brazil.
Defourny talks about Brazil-Africa: Crossed Histories Programme during the event that will discuss the "promotion and the dissemination of the General History of Africa" and the "Role of the African Diaspora to Mankind", between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
27.10.11 UNILA creates new courses and openings for students from 16 countries in 2012
The Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA) will offer 800 openings in its selective process in 2012: 50% of the openings are for Brazilians and the rest for students from 15 Latin American countries. In addition to the 12 courses already underway, UNILA will inaugurate four new majors: Music, Audiovisual and Cinema, Architecture and Urban Planning and Public Health. The registration period is from 21 November until 16 December, at the UNILA website.
26.10.11 UNESCO congratulates the Senate for approving the Law on Access to Public Information
The Senate’s approval, on Tuesday (25/10), of the General Law on Access to Public Information places Brazil among the approximately 90 nations which have already decided to institutionalize similar legal frameworks. It constitutes an important step towards the full implementation of the provisions of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
