In December, Senator Cristovam Buarque (PDT-DF) will participate for the first time as member of the Steering Committee of the United Nations University, in Tokyo. Doctor in Economy and Professor, the parliamentarian was nominated councilor by the UNESCO General-Director, Irina Bokova, and was vested two weeks ago by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.

01.10.10 World Teachers’ Day – October 5th
“Recovery Begins with Teachers” is the central theme of the World Teachers’ Day, celebrated on October 5th. In 2010, UNESCO highlights the crucial role played by educators in moments of all sorts of crisis – natural, humanitarian, social or economic -, in post-conflict and emergency situations.
Twenty-four school directors of the Brazilian public network visit United States to know the North American public educational system, to participate in workshops on school leadership and management and to visit schools and have meetings with directors and educators. The goal is to learn, teach and, mainly, to exchange experiences in school management and leadership.
