South-South Cooperation in Human Rights will be one of the themes of the seminar Reflections and Proposals about International Technical Cooperation in Human Rights, hosted by the Secretariat of Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic Office (SDH/PR) this Friday (28) in Brasília. South-South Cooperation involves organized countries in the South of the globe aimed at putting forth initiatives of mutual cooperation.

Jurema de Sousa Machado leaves the Coordination of the Culture Sector at UNESCO in Brazil, a position she had held since January 2002, to become the new president of the National Institute for Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan). Her nomination was published on the Federal Official Gazette (Diário Oficial da União – DOU) on Wednesday, 26 September. She will be inducted on the course on the following days.
This Wednesday, 26 September, Minister of Education Aloizio Mercadante joins the launch of United Nations initiative Education First in New York, aimed at the promotion of education as an universal right and led by UNESCO. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will coordinate the activities as part of the Global Initiative on Education, which is one of the priorities of his present mandate.
