UNESCO participates to the EU High Level Conference on Education and Development: From Challenges to Opportunities
On 23rd of May, at the initiative of EU Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs, the EU is organizing a high level conference on education and development in Brussels, Belgium. Education ministers, donors, international national governmental organizations, teacher representatives, youth and other education advocates will debate the challenges and opportunities faced in improving the equity and quality of education.
This conference aims to ensure that education plays a prominent role as a critical element in the post-2015 development agenda, which will be discussed during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2013.
UNESCO Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova, is addressing the opening session of the conference through a video message. The opening session will be closed by Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien, UNESCO Special Envoy on Literacy for Development.
Senior management team from UNESCO’s Education sector and Institutes is participating to the debates.
