Workshop on Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Education (SDG-4) for Non-governmental Organizations

July 24th, 2017 – Cairo, Egypt

UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab Region in Cairo co-organized a workshop around Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Education (SDG-4)” in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE) and the National Center for Educational Research and Development (NCERD), under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education and Technical Education.

The workshop targeted active non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) working in the field of education, which were nominated by MoETE from the pool of well-established NGO’s the Ministry works closely with. The workshop’s objectives included raising awareness on SDG-4 and its alignment with Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2030; discussing the role of NGO’s in measuring achievements in SDG-4; and outlining NGO’s potential contribution in this domain and the challenges they face. The workshop was attended by 60 participants.

This workshop is the first of a series of upcoming events in Egyptian governorates targeting concerned stakeholders, to raise their awareness and build their capacities in promoting, adopting, and monitoring SDG-4 at national level.
