Gender is a cross cutting priority for UNESCO. In line with UNESCO’s “Gender Equality Action Plan” (2008-2013), UNESCO Cairo Office is following strategic actions by program sectors to ensure gender is mainstreamed in all relevant activities, and as much as possible that women’s empowerment takes place through gender-specific programming. UCO activities with a positive impact on gender equality actions and outcomes include the following examples:
