UNESCO Windhoek Cluster Office

UNESCO Windhoek Cluster Office and the Journalist Union of Lesotho (JUL) have prepared two main activities to mark the International Women’s Day within the Women Make the News 2013 initiative. In partnership with all media houses in Lesotho, the online social networks, civil society and other women’s associations, a procession will be held on the 8th of March 2013 to raise the visibility of the day and the initiative in Lesotho. Press coverage and other promotional and multimedia materials will also be produced for the same purpose.
Afterwards, a one day seminar with journalists, other women organizations and prominent stakeholders will discuss empowering women journalists and promotion of gender equality through the media; raising the visibility of women issues and achievements in the media; and facilitating a wider media terrain with more women focus oriented training facilities. The seminar will also seek to revive Lesotho’s Women Association.
