World Press Freedom Day Youth Poster Competition in Asia-Pacific
In the framework on the World Press Freedom Day that will be celebrated on 3 May 2014, UNESCO Bangkok and the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand (FCCT) are inviting Asia-Pacific youth between the ages of 18-35 to join a World Press Freedom Day Youth Poster Competition. The submission deadline is 15 April 2014.
If you are interested, you are invited to create and send poster that answers the question: Why is press freedom important? and show why media freedoms are essential in the region to promote social equality, democracy, sustainable development, poverty reduction and cultural preservation. Those are just a few suggested possibilities – we want youth to show us why a free press matters!
A jury comprised of UNESCO and FCCT officials will review the entries. The top 16 entries will be featured in a special exhibition at the FCCT, the premier location for media networking, press advocacy and journalism-related exhibitions in Southeast Asia. The exhibition will be launched on 30 April prior to a panel discussion on the role of media in development at a tumultuous time in Asia-Pacific. The top 16 entries will be featured prominently in UNESCO social media platforms as well as in press outreach activities. The jury will also choose one grand prize winner among submissions. The winner will receive a special prize.
