Mak Yong Documentation: Four manuscripts containing stories and theatrical instructions on Mak Yong
Documentary heritage submitted for inclusion in the Memory of the World Register in 2012.
The proposal is concerned with a series of handwritten notebooks of a repertoire of Mak Yong, classical Malay dances, music, dialogues, slapstick, theatre, ritual and performances. Mak Yong performances originate from the Malay people of what is now Nara Yala, South Thailand (former Patani) and came to Indonesia (Bintan) more than one hundred years ago through Malaysia (Kelantan) and Singapore (Temasik).
