6th IGF@Nairobi
With the slogan "Internet as a catalyst for change: access, development, freedoms and innovation", the Sixth Annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Meeting took place in Nairobi, Kenya on 27-30 September 2011 at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON).
UNESCO organized the following workshops in cooperatioin with other key stakeholders:
- Openness and Privacy "Free flow of information and social networks: a role for democracy and social participation"
- Critical Internet Resources "Economic Aspects of Local Content Creation and Local Internet Infrastructure"
- Security "Addressing some unintended consequences of participation in the digital environment"
Furthermore, UNESCO supports and contribute to one of the IGF main sessions, "Security, Privacy and Openness".
