Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics for the Estonian Press  acknowledges that freedom of communication is the base for a well-functioning democratic society and a free press is a means to reach it and maintain it. Moreover, it includes the obligation to ensure the right of the Estonian public to receive true, fair and comprehensive information. The code serves as the key basis for the work of the self-regulatory bodies. Moreover, it is now applicable to new media as well.  However, some news organizations, such as the newspaper Äripäev , the public broadcaster ERR and some other have their own additional codes.
