Code of Ethics
The Background organizations of CMM in 2011 published the last version of “Guidelines for Journalists”, stating several principles about journalism ethics. The Guidelines constitute the basis for a self-regulation, and it is the obligation of all journalists to follow them. The guidelines define the professional status of journalists. They also advise how to obtain and publish information, what the rights of the interviewer and interviewee are, and how and when to make corrections and give the right to reply. In addition the Guidelines define, what information is private and what is public.
In addition to the Council for Mass Media’s Guidelines, the major news outlets have additional codes of ethics.
