Associations and Unions

The National Federation of the Italian Press (FNSI) it’s the unique and unitary journalists’ trade union in Italy acting under Article 39 of the Italian Constitution. Its aim is to safeguard the interests of the professional category as well as its moral and material rights. The other task of the Union is to defend the freedom of the press and of information. The main activity of the Union is that of creating collective working agreement and ensuring its assistance to its members.
The Union is represented in every editorial office by an editorial committee representing the interest of all the journalists working in the company. The Committee is responsible for the organization of the editorial work, for example for the working personnel, the working hours, the choice of external collaborators.

The Italian National Publishers Federation (Fieg) is composed by newspapers and magazines publishers and also by press agencies. Its main scope is to promote  the freedom of information in all forms and by all means. Also the Publishers Federation works to safeguard the economic situation of its members, to develop  the diffusion of the media as instrument for information, to protect rights and interests of its associates.

The National Institute for the Welfare of Italian Journalists (Inpgi) is responsible of ensuring welfare and assistance for the journalists. It provides retirement and invalidity pensions; it provides benefits to unemployed journalists; it helps journalists in case of injuries.
The Autonomous Fund for Additional Health Assistance for the Italian Journalists (Casagit) allows journalists to receive specific health care in addition to that provided by the national health system.
