Associations and Unions

The Latvian Association of Journalists , founded in 1992 with its own Code of Ethics which was adopted in April of that year while the Latvian Press Publishers Association is an NGO which promotes the development of printed media and the publishing industry. It also cultivates the relations of the members of the organization (a large number, both national and regional level) with public institutions, private institutions and NGOs. The Association also has adopted the Association of Latvian Press Publishers Statute.

The Latvian Internet Association brings together Latvian enterprises working in this sector and who wish to develop its possible opportunities in Latvia while the Latvian Information Technology and Telecommunications Association works to increase education in this area between the industry and subscribers as well as in keeping professional standards high. As internet use has sharply increased over the past couple of years in the country, working with associations such as these to develop another means of communication and expression is important.
