Code of Ethics
Guidelines from the Netherlands Press Council operate as a Code of Ethics for professionals. It lays out general guidelines and covers the journalistic approach, columns, cartoons and reviews, visual material, letters set in and responds on web sites and rectification. At least once a year the Council assesses whether the Guidelines need changing.
The television viewing guidelines advise parents on the age up to which a television programme or film is potentially harmful to children. These guidelines, called KijKwijzer (literally meaning "watch wiser" or "watching guide"), form a cross media system to classify television programmes, films, DVD and mobile content. Kijkwijzer has been created by the NICAM (Netherlands Institute for the Classification of Audio-visual Media). NICAM is a foundation established by all Netherlands’ public service broadcasting and commercial television stations.
