Code of Ethics

The main code of ethics related to the press in Spain, is guaranteed by the journalists who form part of the Federation of The Press Associations of Spain (Federacion de Asociaciones de la Prensa de Espana - FAPE) who commit themselves to respect binding ethic principles when exercising their profession. The general assembly of the FAPE declared a national code of ethics for the journalistic profession. There also exist codes of ethics related to the media group, for example, The Correo Group has approved a code of ethics to which the journalists of the group will have to adjust their rules of professional conduct. Finally there also exist in Spain different codes of ethics related to specific subjects such as the Self-regulatory code on television content and children “Código de autorregulación sobre contenidos televisivos e infancia” created in 2004.
