IFAP Projects

Further to a call for proposals launched in 2005, the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Council for IFAP has received more than 500 project proposals for funding from organizations all over the world.

The IFAP Special Fund, supported by voluntary contributions from UNESCO’s Member States and other donors, has allowed the Bureau to fund only a limited number of the proposals in its three priority areas, namely:

  • promoting information literacy, through capacity building particularly for information professionals;
  • strengthening awareness about the importance of preservation of information of all kinds; and
  • promoting a better understanding of the ethical, legal and societal implications of ICTs.

In assessing the proposals and determining the project support, the IFAP bureau has established specific criteria which demonstrate IFAP’s quality processes in selecting the projects.
