CLASE, PERIÓDICA and BIBLAT

CLASE (Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades/Social Sciences and Humanities) and PERIODICA (Indice de Revistas Latinoamericanas en Ciencia/Sciences) are analytical bibliographic databases developed by the Autonomous National University of México (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México-UNAM) since 1975 (CLASE) and 1978 (PERIÓDICA). Altogether they have indexed more than 3,000 journals from 20 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and offer more than 600,000 records, of which more than 110,000 provide abstracts and links, external and internal links, to the full text of the documents from 16 countries, free of charge.

Both databases allow search within journals: by title, authors, journal, year, subject and keywords. Full-text articles are from journals of: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Perú, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

A recent project is BIBLAT (Indicadores Bibliométricos de CLASE y PERIÓDICA) that provides bibliometric indicators for articles published in CLASE and PERIÓDICA. BIBLAT indicators are not based on citation metrics, they are based on measurement of productivity in terms of number of articles published by authors, author’s institutions/universities and their nationality, journals and their nationality, knowledge areas, and collaboration intra and extra regional.

BIBLAT includes links to full text contents of documents indexed in CLASE and PERIODICA. CLASE, PERIODICA,BIBLAT and LATINDEX are open access resources developed by UNAM to improve visibility and access to journals from Latin America and the Caribbean.
