UNESCO hosts webinar on open educational practices policy making
The Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL), a European consortium of which UNESCO is a member, will be holding a second webinar session on 4 and 6 October via Adobe Connect. The topic of this second OPAL webinar will be: Policy for OER: What? Who? Why?
The OPAL webinar aims to introduce the concept of OER policies to institutional actors, and to discuss policy-making in monitoring and spear-heading adoption of such policies in OER institutions. The webinar will serve as an integral part of the work plan foreseen for the OPAL initiative, of which UNECSCO is a partner.
The Open Educational Quality Initiative webinar will be organized in two sessions to maximise full participation by all OER Global Initiatives.
- Session 1: Africa/Arab States/Europe - Tuesday, 4 October 2011, 13.00-16.30 CET;
- Session 2: Asia-Pacific/Latin America and the Caribbean/North America – Thursday, 6 October 2011 13.00-15.30 Pacific Time.
UNESCO is a leading contributor to the OPAL Open Educational Practices framework, as well as to the development of the Registry of OER Champions and the Clearinghouse of Open Educational Practices. The main objective of OPAL is to improve the promotion of Open Educational Resources (OER) by supporting innovative Open Educational Practices.
The address of the webinar will be announced this week on the OER WSIS Community and OPAL websites.
