Workshop for women journalists in Mauritania starts today
The last in a series of workshop for women journalists to produce public announcement spots for the Presidential elections in Mauritania opens today in the country's capital Nouakchott.
Ten Mauritanian women journalists participate in the three day workshop that will focus on the important role of the women journalists in the democratic process in Mauritania. In reinforcing the capacities of women journalists through specialized workshops, the network of women journalists is strengthened and a platform is created to favour citizen education and a democratic culture.
Six public announcement spots will be realized in order to encourage people to adhere to the election process. Several governmental actors will also take part in the evaluation of the public announcement spots, such as the Commission Electorale Nationale Indépendante (CENI), the independent national electoral commission.
