The 11th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was held at the PALCCO Centre in Guadalajara, Mexico, from 5 to 9 December on the theme of ‘Enabling Inclusive and Sustainable Growth’.

UNESCO has been actively contributing to the IGF since the Forum's inception, and this year UNESCO will again be playing an important role through proposing and leading discussions on important issues relating to Internet Governance. UNESCO will be running a series of events at the Forum to explore and foster debate on critical issues such as privacy and freedom of expression, the roe of the judiciary and internet legislation, Internet Universality and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the relationship between the Internet and youth radicalization. UNESCO will be launching the latest edition of its Internet Freedom Series publication: Human Rights Aspects of Encryption at its workshop on 'Encryption and the safety of journalists in the digital age'. The organization will also be sharing the initial results of its research on the subject of youth radicalization and social media during the workshop 'Social media and youth radicalization in the digital age'.
