Meetings of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Event of Armed Conflict

The Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict is composed of twelve States Parties to the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. It shall meet once a year in ordinary session. It might also meet in extraordinary session whenever it deems necessary in accordance with the procedure.

Requests for an extraordinary session of the Committee may be submitted to the Secretariat of the Committee in writing at any time by any member of the Committee or any State Party to the Second Protocol not represented on the Committee and also by the Director-General of UNESCO. Requests for extraordinary sessions shall give details on the proposed urgent matters relevant to the Committee’s responsibilities to be considered, and shall be communicated by the Secretariat to the members of the Committee in writing.
