Survey results of the Implementation of the Road Map
In 2009, UNESCO launched a wide-ranging survey in its 193 Member States in order to assess the implementation and influence on policy decisions of the Road Map and the situation of arts education in the responding countries.
With a 49-percent response rate and contributions from all UNESCO regions, the survey showed that the Road Map had been distributed in more than two thirds of the responding countries, while the document had served as a reference for the elaboration of projects in half of the countries. The survey also confirmed that one of the main obstacles for the development of arts education is the lack of funding, which is mostly of governmental origin. The results were presented at the Second World Conference on Arts Education.
