Initiatives within the framework of the preparations for the Second World Conference on Arts Education

The core organisation of the Second World Conference on Arts Education is managed by the Steering Committee for the Conference, consisting of UNESCO and officials from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Arts & Cultural Education Service, and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. To coordinate their joint action, there are 5 coordination meetings.

The International Advisory Committee, which met in July 2009, is a group of 40 experts from different regions working within different fields of arts education including NGOSD such as the International Theater Institute (ITI), the International Music Council (IMC) and the World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE). The committee provides overall guidance to the steering committee in designing the conceptual framework and organization structure of the Conference.

Throughout the period between the First World Conference on Arts Education and the Second World Conference, a number of regional, national and international preparatory meetings, conferences, summits and initiatives have and will take place.
