Florence Majachani is a specialist in cultural governance, cultural policy, culture and sustainable development, arts advocacy, creative economy and arts and culture management. She holds Honours in Theatre Arts and Masters in Arts and Culture Management degrees and has significant experience facilitating the implementation of more efficient and culture-sensitive development policies and programmes in Africa. Currently she is a part-time Lecturer in the field of arts and culture management (University of Zimbabwe) and an independent research consultant for various organisations in Zimbabwe. From 2007 to 2008 she worked as a Liaison Officer for the Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa where she managed projects which included a research project on cultural policies for cities and local authorities and how they can contribute to development. In October 2008 she joined Arterial Network as a researcher responsible for preparing and distributing an arts and culture newsletter. Recently she was commissioned by Nhimbe Trust to develop a Creative Civil Society’s National Plan of Action on the Arts and Culture for Zimbabwe. She is also the author of the cultural policy profile of Zimbabwe, which is featured on the World Compendium on Cultural Policies website (World CP).
