Presentation Workshop in Cambodia
The UNESCO Culture for Development Indicator Suite was officially launched on January 24, 2013 at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Nearly 60 representatives from key public institutions and ministries, international development agencies and civil society participated in the first national workshop, demonstrating the growing national interest for culture and development.
Within this promising context, the objective of the workshop was:
- To present the indicators and methodology of the Culture for Development Indicator Suite
- To ensure further collaboration with the participants of the workshop during the implementation of the CDIS, data collection and analysis.
- To identify data sources and establish a work plan.
Stakeholders showed genuine interest in the CDIS, agreeing that at this critical time when Cambodia continues to develop its national cultural policy, good decisions are informed decisions and the CDIS provides tools and methodology to help quantitatively identify the strengths and weaknesses in the current Cambodian policies.
In the coming months, local consultants and UNESCO Phnom Penh will continue to work with the participants of the workshop in order to complete the collection of data for the CDIS indicators and analyze the results. A final workshop for the presentation of Cambodia’s results will take place in April 2013.
