In practice: Culture as a driver

  • The MDG Fund employs culture in order to meet the goal of eradicating poverty and hunger. For example a project in Nicaragua is building the capacity of Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples of the Caribbean coast to utilize their cultural and natural heritage to support their development. It is providing the skills to support the development of sustainable tourism, which will contribute to local social and economic development and to the preservation of culture and its characteristics.
