Meeting of the International Scientific Committe (ISC) of the Slave Route Project

A regular meeting of the International Scientific Committee (ISC) for the Slave ​​Route Project: Resistance, Liberty, Heritage will be held In Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), from 18 to 20 November 2013. This statutory meeting, funded by Brazil, is organized in the framework of the national celebration of the "National Day of Black Consciousness."

The International Scientific Committee (ISC ) ​​Route Project of the slave has been renewed by half. Among its new members, on can count prominent personalities such as Michaëlle Jean (Haiti / Canada), who was General Governor of Canada (2005-2010) and UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, Henry Gates (United States), Professor at Harvard University and Director of the Institute for Wood research on African and Afro-American roots, Didier Awadi (Senegal ), very committed artist of international renown who founded in 1989 the Positive Black Soul group, etc.

On this occasion, the proposed activities to be implemented in 2014 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Slave Route Project and the launching of the Decade for People of African Descent (2013-2022) will be presented, as well as innovative actions to support the project will be discussed.

On 20 November 2013, the Ceremony of the " National Day of Black Consciousness” and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque of Quay Valongo, jetty for slaves in the nineteenth century in Rio de Janeiro.
