Irina Bokova on an official visit to Uruguay
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova will be on an official visit to Uruguay from 13 to 15 September. She is expected to meet with the President Mr José Mujica, and several government officials. The Director-General is also expected to meet with the UN Resident Coordinator and the Country Team.
The Director-General will open the consultation meeting with Member States and National Commissions of Latin America and the Caribbean region for the elaboration of the new Medium-Term strategy for UNESCO. The meeting will take place in the presence of the Minister of Education and Culture. The outcomes of the consultation will be presented to the Executive Board at its 190th session in October 2012.
At the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), the Director-General will attend the ceremony for five students benefitting from scholarships in environmental engineering, specialized in sanitary engineering within the framework of the agreement between UNESCO-IHE Institute of for Water Education and ANII.
Irina Bokova will take part in the opening ceremony of the regional meeting on Memory Archives within the framework of the 20th commemoration of the Memory of the World Programme, as well as the launch of the Network of National Authorities against Racism, Xenophobia and all means of discrimination.
