Using the UNESCO/ICOM Museum Studies Training Programme

Designed to improve the knowledge and enhance the skills of museum professionals in developing countries, the UNESCO/ICOM Museum Studies Training Programme is ideal for group or individual use.

Written by established professionals in the field, the UNESCO/ICOM Handbook and Trainer’s Manual cover all areas of interest to new or future museum professionals, while being concise, user-friendly and affordable to all. Published in six different language versions, the components of the Programme are freely downloadable. Those using them are encouraged to adapt or translate them for local needs.

For optimum use, trainers and users of the Programme are encouraged to carry out an assessment of their training needs when using the Practical Handbook or Trainer’s Manual. The UNESCO/ICOM Training Needs Questionnaire can help in identifying specific training needs and in designing targeted training programmes.
