Laureates of UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme 2012 proclaimed
The 2012 laureates have been announced. They hail from 17 countries and specialize in creative writing, music and visual arts.
Hundreds of young artists have already benefitted from UNESCO-Aschberg Busaries. In 2012, this programme will grant 18 fellowships funded by 12 partner institutions from 10 countries.
In the early 1960s, the Swedish philanthropists, Mr and Mrs Aschberg, donated to UNESCO a chateau located near Paris. To honour the memory of the Aschbergs and the spirit of their donation, UNESCO decided to use the proceeds from the sale of the property to create the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists in 1994. This programme aims to open new career prospects to young artists and enable them to continue their training in specialized institutions.
