Call for Applications: International Courses in Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, Croatia

ICUA Zadar, wood conservation

When: March to April 2020

Where: Zadar, Croatia

Application Deadline: 14th of February 2020

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICUA Zadar) is once again organising courses with theoretical and practical training in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds.

The training will be provided by ICUA Zadar staff, in accordance with the standards of the ICUA/UNESCO course staged in 2011, and divided into three main workshops dealing with metal, ceramic and glass, and organic finds. The participants will be able to choose between either a two-week introductory course that will involve basic work in all three workshops, or a one-month advanced course that will give the participant the opportunity to specialise in one of the workshops. The courses provide for an individual mentored approach to each participant based on their capabilities and knowledge in the field of conservation and restoration. Upon completion, having passed all the theoretical and practical examinations, the participants will be entitled to a certificate in conservation and restoration of archaeological finds.
