International Seminar “The UNESCO Convention for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage” Lisbon, Portugal

The Portuguese Commission for UNESCO and the Portuguese Institute for Archaeology / National Centre for Nautical and Underwater Archaeology organise an International Seminar to celebrate the ratification of the 2001 Convention by Portugal on 21 December 2006.

This event is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of the Convention by bringing together a group of specialists, who will discuss its context and purpose.

The International Seminar “The UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Underwater Cultural Heritage” taking place from 9 Feb 2007 to 10 Feb 2007 is the first event of a week (9 – 15 Feb) dedicated to issues related to Underwater Cultural Heritage that will include international meetings, visits to museums and exhibitions, as well as a workshop on Nautical Architecture.
