Regional Workshop on the Underwater Cultural Heritage in March 2011 in Cozumel (Mexico)

The UNESCO Mexico office, in collaboration with the office in Cuba and Paris headquarters, and the support of the municipality of Cozumel, is organizing a regional workshop entitled "Technical and legal challenges of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in Central America and Mexico". This workshop will take place on 2 and 3 March 2011 in San Miguel Cozumel, Quintana Roo-Mexico. There will be presentation on the argument from the authorities of Aruba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a follow-up on previous meetings in view of identifying the necessary measures and evaluating the progress towards a better protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Moreover the workshop will explore the links between the protection of cultural and natural heritage in order to develop an integrated approach.
