WAC 6: Sixth World Archaeological Congress calls for implementation of the UNESCO 2001 Convention
Dublin, Ireland, 29 June - 04 July 2008
The sixth World Archaeological Congress (WAC) featured a session and a plenary on the UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage animated by eminent experts on underwater cultural heritage.
As a result the World Archaeological Congress expressed in a resolution and following press release its appreciation for, and recognition of, the first 17 nations to ratify the UNESCO 2001 Convention and called for its worldwide implementation.
WAC 6 is the only representative, fully international organization of practicing archaeologists. The campus of University College Dublin will be the main venue of this event and a varied and thematic programme complemented by a wide range of social events will be organized during the Congress.
