Did You Know? The statue of a young rider on a galloping horse was found on a shipwreck...

This magnificent bronze statue of a young jockey and a horse was retrieved in pieces from the shipwreck found off Cape Artemision in Euboea. It is a masterpiece dating from about 140 BC. In an immense effort of restoration it was reassembled and cleaned.

The young jockey on the galloping horse will have held the reins in his left hand and a whip in his right hand. The contractions and furrows on his face, especially on his forehead, reveal his agony and passion.
