In Gambia, education managers take exams in UNESCO’s new diploma course
Seventeen education managers from Gambia have just finalized their exams. They are students in the new English version of the diploma course in Sectoral Analysis and Management of the Education System (SAMES).
The French version of the diploma course entitled PSGSE has successfully run since 2007, in partnership between UNESCO’s Pôle de Dakar and the Faculty of the Science and Technology of Education and Training in Senegal (FASTEF) at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar).
This new version of the Diploma Course is organized by the Pôle de Dakar and the University of The Gambia (UTG).
A special group
“This group is special, since this is the first cohort of English-speaking students,” says Martine Boulanger of the Pôle de Dakar.
“It’s a test year that is crucial for further development of the course." The exams took place from 4-8 June 2012.
Students were tested in their theoretical and technical knowledge to address the development of simulation models for education financing.
Support to education efforts
The Pôle de Dakar is part of UNESCO’s efforts to assist countries in carrying out sector diagnosis in education (RESEN) and the elaboration of Financial Simulation Models in Education.Since 2002, the Pôle has provided technical supervision of national teams in some 20 African countries.
