New publication: Roadmap to National and Regional Qualifications Frameworks in TVET in ECOWAS
This new publication provides a regional analysis of the situation and prospects, as well as guidelines and a roadmap for future interventions in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Published by UNESCO on behalf of the Inter-Agency Task Force on TVET (IATT), the report is a contribution to the development of national and regional certification frameworks, which is key to recognize skills acquired in the formal or non-formal sector, or in the workplace. Such frameworks also facilitate mobility between countries within the sub-region. It is the result of a strategic, technical and political process conducted by IATT in 2011-2012.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is widely recognized as the key to competitiveness and social inclusion of a country or region.
The 15 ECOWAS member states are looking at both relevant policy guidance and innovative solutions to promote programmes that meet the needs of the labor market and support the essential transition between education and the world of work.
That is why at the request of Member States, the ECOWAS Commission, UNESCO and UNDP launched the IATT to revitalize TVET in West Africa.
