Sector-wide Policy and Planning

Progressing towards SDG4-Education 2030, which is central to the achievement of all SDGs, requires careful planning and monitoring of national education systems.

Efforts to develop credible education sector plans is key as it enables countries to engage in productive dialogue with education stakeholders.

The development of national capacities in planning and managing education systems in sub-Saharan African countries is a priority for UNESCO.

Support of Institutes

Through the International Institute for Educational Planning’s (IIEP) Pole de Dakar and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), both based in the UNESCO Dakar Office, the development of tools and technical support to countries is also provided.
