New database on the performance of education systems in Africa

A database of key indicators on education systems in Africa is now available.

It includes data on education systems in 54 African countries (Sub-saharan Africa as well as countries in North Africa) allowing for comparison over time and between countries.

The database is published by the Pôle de Dakar, an education sector analysis unit set up within the UNESCO Dakar Office. 

It is available on the Pôle de Dakar website.

Indicators of performance of education systems

The database is organized in three major themes:

  1. context of the education system (macroeconomic and demographic)
  2. financing of education 
  3. enrollments, internal efficiency, quality and management

With more than 100 indicators available, the database offers an overview of the state of education systems in African countries.
